Benefits of Sculptra
Sculptra is a brand-name filler, which our Englewood staff is proud to offer. Its main component is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic biodegradable polymer that has been used for various medical purposes for many years that stimulates collagen production. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that provide immediate volume by adding substances like hyaluronic acid, Sculptra stimulates collagen over several weeks, resulting in a gradual and natural-looking improvement in skin volume and texture.
This injectable procedure is versatile and can be used to address various concerns, including facial wrinkles, folds, and lines. It is commonly used in the midface area to restore volume and improve contour. Results can last up to two years or more, reducing the frequency of touch-up treatments compared to other injectables.
Because it is a non-surgical treatment, it does not require any surgery or extensive recovery period. Although some swelling and bruising may occur, these symptoms should be resolved within a few weeks.
What To Expect
At our office in Englewood, we want to make sure that you are well-informed about your Sculptra experience. You will, first and foremost, have a consultation and evaluation with a member of our staff to determine if this is the best option for you. Once you are cleared for treatment, we can inject Sculptra into the targeted areas of your face, with the number of required sessions being dependent on your individual needs.
Results are not immediate. Instead, they become noticeable gradually over several weeks as collagen production increases, and lasting upwards of two years.
Potential Side Effects
While Sculptra is considered safe when administered by a qualified professional, it can have potential side effects, as with any medical procedure. Dr. Abramson and his staff will discuss all these possibilities before your session:
- You may have mild swelling and bruising at the site of your injection. However, these subside within a few days
- You may experience redness and tenderness temporarily at the injection site.
- Even though it is rare, you may develop small lumps or nodules (granulomas) underneath your skin at the injection site. Massaging the treated areas, as instructed, can help minimize this risk
- There may be temporary itching or discomfort.
- Infection, though uncommon, is a risk with any injection, so be sure to report any issues you experience afterward.
- Allergic reactions can occur, though they are very rare. Make sure to let Dr. Abramson know about any allergies you have before you sign up for Sculptra.
By following instructions and communicating with us, you will greatly minimize any potential complications with Sculptra at our Englewood office.
