Your Initial Consultation for Breast Reconstruction

Your Breast Reconstruction Procedure

The surgery will be personalized based on your individual needs, and will be performed under anesthesia. You will need at least one full day for the procedure and several weeks of recovery afterward.

Typically, Dr. Abramson will transfer a section of your body, including the skin, muscle, fat, and blood vessels, to your chest to create the new mound that will form your breast. This may be sufficient on its own, or if the resulting shape and size are inadequate, it may be augmented with a breast implant.

We recommend that patients arrange a ride to and from our office on the day of their procedure to ensure a safe drive post-anesthesia.

You will be required to rest for a few weeks as you heal from your breast reconstruction procedure in New York. Please refrain from moving your chest muscles as much as possible, abstain from working out, and do not resume smoking if you are a habitual smoker.  If you follow the guidance and instructions of our outstanding medical staff as directed, you can reasonably expect a swift and optimal recovery.
