Avéli™ Long-Term Cellulite Reduction
Consultations offered at our three convenient locations in New Jersey, Bergen County and Englewood, NJ
Avéli™ is a minimally invasive treatment that improves the appearance of cellulite for smoother skin. The treatment releases underlying fat from fibrous bands (culprit septa bands) that pull the fat and create a dimpled appearance similar to an orange peel. Cellulite affects approximately 80-90% of women (1) and can appear on the thighs, buttocks, and hips.
Dr. David L. Abramson is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has helped many patients improve their skin with minimally invasive body contouring treatments. He is well known for his artistic approach and is excited to be one of the first to offer Avéli™ for a meaningful and lasting reduction in cellulite dimples. (2) With Avéli™, Dr. Abramson can identify and release the primary structural cause of cellulite with a minimally invasive procedure that requires minimal downtime. (3)

About Avéli™
Pregnancy, hormonal changes, and weight fluctuations can lead to cellulite, which affects the skin’s texture. This results in a dimpled appearance that affects self-esteem. If you are struggling with dimpled skin, Avéli™ is a minimally invasive treatment that can effectively reduce it.
Cellulite is a depression of any shape or size with defined edges seen on the skin’s surface, typically on the buttocks or thighs. A major underlying cause of cellulite is the fibrous bands that tether your skin to the structures below. These bands (septa) (3) help your skin maintain its structure, but if they stiffen or shrink over time, this can lead to dimples that affect the texture of your skin. (3) Cellulite occurs when the connective bands beneath the skin put pressure on the underlying fat.
Avéli™ vs. Liposuction
Avéli™ does not remove pockets of excess fat or address skin laxity. Many patients combine Avéli™ treatments with liposuction–a procedure that removes pockets of fat with gentle suction that preserves the surrounding tissue. During a liposuction treatment, Dr. Abramson will cleanse the fatty tissue with tumescent fluid–a combination of lidocaine, epinephrine, and saline that reduces recovery time and causes the fat cells to swell for easy removal. He can remove the excess fat with a thin tube. In some cases, we can inject the fat into another area to restore volume with a fat transfer.
Benefits
There are several benefits of Avéli™, including:
- Quick recovery period: Most patients can return to normal routines after 1-2 weeks.
- Improved self-confidence and more clothing options: Many patients feel more comfortable in different types of clothing afterward with smoother skin.
- Smoother skin: Releasing the connective bands beneath your skin can help you achieve smoother skin and enhance your skin’s texture.
- Fast, convenient treatment: With the Avéli™ device, we can quickly reduce the appearance of cellulite.
- Minimally invasive treatment: We make a very thin incision along the natural curve of your skin.
- Long-lasting results: If you take good care of your body, you can enjoy results lasting up to a year.

Consultation
Dr. Abramson will examine your skin and ask about your aesthetic goals. You must come prepared to discuss your medications, medical history, lifestyle, and previous cosmetic procedures. He will create a treatment plan for your specific needs and can treat multiple areas, including the thighs, hips, abdomen, or buttocks. If you have additional body goals, he can also recommend other procedures to help you achieve them. We can discuss liposuction or Coolsculpting if you have pockets of excess fat.

Preparation
To prepare for Avéli™, you will need to:
- Discontinue any medications and supplements that thin your blood
- Stop smoking temporarily before and after the procedure
- Refrain from drinking alcohol 24 hours before and after
- Avoid sun exposure that could damage your skin
Treatment Process
On the day of your treatment, you should arrive in comfortable clothing with clean skin. We will administer anesthesia and mark your skin for the treatment. Avéli™ is an option for a range of women across the cellulite severity spectrum. Dr. Abramson will use a handheld device to manually target and release the complicated web of septa bands causing cellulite dimples. (3) He will guide the Avéli™ wand beneath the skin to release the underlying fat from the connective bands for a smoother appearance. (3) He will identify and release the septa bands that are causing dimples. (3) Dr. Abramson can confirm their release in real-time, quickly delivering smoother skin after the procedure. (3,2) The treatment typically takes an hour, depending on your personalized plan and the size of the treatment area.
After Your Treatment
You can return home after your treatment to rest. It’s common to experience mild discomfort during the first 24 hours or small areas of firmness temporarily afterward. (4) Some patients can return to normal activities within 24-48 hours, but depending on the size of the treatment area and the amount of cellulite, some patients will need about a week of downtime. We recommend avoiding strenuous activities or workouts to allow the area to heal. (5) Dr. Abramson will provide specific recovery instructions based on your personalized treatment plan. He will also let you know when to return to your normal exercise routine and when to follow up with the office so he can monitor your progress.
Results
After an Avéli™ treatment, you can enjoy smoother skin. Many patients feel their self-esteem improve with smoother skin and less cellulite. Avéli™ cellulite reduction results should be visible once swelling and bruising subside.
Participants in the clinical study demonstrated a lasting reduction in the appearance of their cellulite when assessed one year after the procedure. (2) If you take good care of your body and maintain a stable weight, you can enjoy results lasting up to a year. However, if pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or hormonal changes impact the appearance of your skin and cause cellulite to develop, we can rejuvenate your appearance with a touch-up appointment.
